Mr. El-Khawad is the head of the Energy and Climate Cluster of GIZ in Tunisia. The cluster regroups projects advising Tunisia on Energy transition, Energy efficiency in buildings, Hydrogen, Cooling, Circularity, to name some sectors. He has over 20 years of professional experience in environmental and climate policy at GIZ. Posted at GIZ Technical Department in Eschborn (1999-2005), in Morocco in the Environmental, Water and Renewable Energy Programme (2005-2010), in Berlin as Head of GIZ Liaison Office to German Ministries of Environment Education, Agriculture, Transport and Infrastructure (2013-2018) and recently India as head of the cluster on Environment and Climate (2018-2024). Master’s degree in political science, University of Marburg Germany and Free University of Berlin (1992), Post-graduate degree in Development policy and project management of the German Development Institute GDI/DIE (Bonn (1993).
