Mr. Gianfranco BOCHICCHIO

Mr Gianfranco Bochicchio is an official of the European Union (EU), currently working for the European External Action Service (EEAS) at the EU Delegation in Tunis. He has spent most of his career on EU external relations, covering a wide range of issues such as the Enlargement policy, the promotion of good governance and democracy, human rights, dialogue on trade issues and the development of the EU Common Foreign and Security Policy. Previously, he was working on EU Election observation, specialising in particular in the Mediterranean basin and Latin America. In this capacity, he has organised and participated to several EU Election Observation missions (EOMs), among others, working in countries as diverse as Tunisia, Colombia, Jordan, Honduras, Iraq, Kosovo, and Lebanon. He was co-chair of the EU Council Working Group on the Western Balkans (COWEB), coordinating the agenda of the group and the overall negotiation work, in particular on draft Council conclusions and political framework agreements. Earlier in his career, he served as desk for EU political relations with Mexico, Morocco and Tunisia. He was also part of the negotiating team for the accession of Malta to the EU. When working for the European Commission, he was seconded to the department for EU affairs at the Italian Foreign Ministry. He is fluent in English, French, Spanish and has good command of Portuguese.
