Mr. Safouane Ben AISSA

He holds a degree in Statistical Engineering and Economics, a PhD in Economics and a University Habilitation diploma. Prof. Safouane Ben Aïssa is Professor of Economics at Tunis el Manar University and has over 25 years’ professional experience in strategic studies and consultancy. He led the UNDP-funded mission to restructure ANME, has worked on the value chain and integration process for the various renewable energy technologies in Tunisia (GIZ), has estimated the cost of non-transition of energy in Tunisia (UNDP) and is currently working on models for estimating CO2 emissions and the carbon footprint of the country-Tunisia (KPMG & ANME). Professor Ben Aïssa was advisor to the Governor of the BCT in 2007 and advised two Ministers of Economy and Finance from 2014 to 2016. He conducted several studies for the African Development Bank (AfDB) over a period of 6 years, and has also worked as a consultant for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). He currently heads the Research and Strategy Department at KPMG Tunisia and is the ESG Country Champion for Tunisia. He has several academic publications related to renewable energy, climate change, decarbonisation, energy transition in international peer-reviewed journals such as Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Energy policy, Energy, The North American Journal of Economics and Finance, Journal of Water & Climate Change & International Renewable Energy Congress (IREC).
